During the 2006/07 financial year, Emirates carried 17.5 million passengers. A total of 1.2 million tonnes of cargo was transported by Emirates Airline and Emirates SkyCargo, the freight subsidiary of The Emirates Group. Emirates has built up a strong brand, has received many awards, and is an industry bellwether for aircraft purchases^, as a trendsetter in terms of service, innovation, and safety. Emirates will have 122 Boeing 777s by 2011 making it the single largest aircraft type in fleet, and 58 Airbus A380s by 2012. During the 2007 financial year Emirates received 13 new aircraft, and is expecting another 23 aircraft during 2008 which includes 5 Airbus A380s.
